Latest Updates from Our Project:

Thermal-Vacuum Chamber Arrived & Roger 4003 Name in Space PCB Status
almost 5 years ago – Sat, May 25, 2019 at 12:50:28 PM

Full SuperCap Data Collection 2019-05-25 Google Sheet and video coming soon!

Hello World,

More than six of you have filled out your BackerKit survey requesting an Ahoska Tano white PCB. Thus enabling us to start production on the first of eight gold plated Roger 4003 space tolerant PCBs with your names on them (See update #34 for timeline), at an USA based PCB fab shop. Roger 4003 material is not that exotic, but its probably best to keep aerospace technology in 'Merica!!  (Urban Dictionary definition of 'Merica).

We will be putting your names and Maxwell Technologies supercapacitors (supercaps) connected to an LED in the thermal-vacuum chamber this weekend. Verifying that the supercaps and Physical Name in Space PCB's don't outgas on to our cameras or encounter a Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly (aka RUD or blowing up) when heated up to 250 degrees Celsius (482 in Freedom Units) for 8 minutes. The literal freezer test down to −78.5 degrees Celsius (−109.3 °F) will occur in Colorado in June. Don't worry, we will have lots of 240 FPS slow-mo video if things go poorly....

As mentioned in Update 2: Use of Funds? we are testing our three 350 F supercaps (not a units typo) in a thermal-vacuum chamber, to make sure they retain enough voltage and current for this 8 min mission. If not (10% chance of failure), we will replace them with a fully tested single LiFePO4  battery from Pumpkin Space Systems.

IT IS HAPPENING!!! BackerKit Reward Surveys Emailed Out
almost 5 years ago – Wed, May 22, 2019 at 12:31:21 PM

Hello World,

14 of you should have received BackerKit surveys in your email inbox NOW! Like a good engineer should,  I'm doing a staged release. The other ~87 backers will automatically get surveys in less than 19 hours. Make sure to check the spam folder of the email address you are using for Kickstarter. This VERY IMPORTANT survey allows us to collect all of the information necessary to deliver your rewards. Any customization (e.g. RECOMMEND-A-FRIEND program bonuses, gifts, multi-level reward merging, etc) will be reflected in a second BackerKit email sent out a few days after you fill out the first email survey.

Backers can update their shipping address at ANY TIME, via BackerKit. We will be shipping all rewards between Sept 1 2019 (T-minus 3.3 months) and Dec 18 2019, so if you plan to move between those dates please let us know ASAP. If you have any questions or survey submission issues, please send an email to [email protected] or Tweet us @DeathStarSpace, and we can send you a direct link to your survey.

We would love to share your space message to the world! Permission to post your replies on social media can be GIVEN or DENIED via the survey! I plan to send "Congrats Phoenix&Holiday U MOM" since any Unicode UTF-16 characters are allowed 😀

BackerKit is easy as 1, 2, 3:

Step 1: Select your country for shipping and click “Get Started!”

Step 2: After you answer some questions, you will be taken to the Add-On page. Here, you will see your pledge level on the left and a list of rewards that are included in your pledge on the right. Make sure it is correct. Any customization (ex: e.g. RECOMMEND-A-FRIEND program bonuses, gifts, multi-level reward merging, etc) should be reflected in the item list. You also have the option to add-on ADDITIONAL items if you wish to do so.

Step 3: If you are receiving physical goods, you will be asked for your shipping information. Input your address and click “next.” In the confirmation page, review all of your information and hit “confirm”.

Hello World,

Even tho the Kickstarter funds have not been transferred yet, I shipped out the first backer reward today to Nikki. I'm too excited to wait the two weeks!!! I received the STS-135 astronaut signatures my last year at NASA, and I’m glad  to know they are going to a good home :)

I would love to know what update frequency people prefer? I myself have deleted many Kickstarter update emails without reading them :) I was thinking of switching from a daily update schedule to an every 4.2 days schedule.  I love you...I know  :)

Please vote on Twitter poll via the official smartphone app or on PC / Mac via  the browser (Chrome or Safari) at: https://twitter.com/deathstarspace/status/1126687499756101634?s=21

To let family &  friends join the mission post #Kickstarter, we turned on discount code "KS_FRIEND" for two weeks at www.deathstarinspace.com/buynow   Prices will continue to go up as we approach our launch date of Dec 13, 2019. Expect 168% price jumps on July 1st, Sept 1st, & Dec 1st
